I no longer teach in the UK.

How is it taught?

In an Awareness Through Movement class, you are given instructions and asked questions that help you increase your awareness and direct your attention to how you are doing the movements.  Each movement exploration is an invitation to immerse yourself in the world of your inner sensation and to improve your kinaesthetic sense as you become more aware of what you are doing and how you move in space.

“With the Feldenkrais method, when we want to improve a movement, rather than repeating it mechanically many times or pushing and straining ourselves to do it, we use a different approach.  We explore how different parts of ourselves can be involved in the movement in order to discover new options and different possibilities.” E. Beringer, Feldenkrais trainer

Whatever your age or your ability, you can increase your freedom of movement by learning to recognise your own movement patterns and improve them by learning new options.  During each Awareness Through Movement lesson, you will discover new ways of doing the things you want to do so you can mobilise yourself optimally in every situation.

Exploring unusual movements and variations on a theme, such as breathing, bending, sitting, and walking, will make it possible for you to move beyond limitations set by habit.  You will experience the sense of ease that comes from moving with greater flexibility and coordination.

All levels of fitness (or lack of fitness!) welcome.
